Following the success of previous collaborations, ICArt once again entrusted ThePartners with the full management of a large-scale sculpture for one of the most visited areas of Royal Caribbean’s new Star of the Seas cruise ship: the Royal Promenade, the social and recreational heart of the vessel.
The artist selected for the project was Alejandro Monge (Zaragoza, 1988), an internationally renowned sculptor recognized for his realistic language and conceptual reflection on the values and dynamics of contemporary society. His sculptures, defined by a balance between refined technique, visual impact, and contemporary aesthetics, combine artisanal mastery with experimentation using materials such as cement, resin, and glass. His work has been featured in leading institutions and art fairs across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and is part of major public and private collections.
For the Star of the Seas, Monge created Hand Stand Break, a resin sculpture over three meters tall, marking a leap in scale for the artist. The piece depicts a young woman in an inverted balance pose, supported by her hands—a position that combines physical tension with an expression of calm, prompting reflection on the harmony found within the contradictions often present in contemporary society.
