As part of their ongoing collaboration, ICArt and Royal Caribbean commissioned ThePartners to provide curatorial consulting, creative direction, and full project management for the creation of a large-scale sculpture for one of the lobbies on the Star of the Seas cruise ship.

The selected artist was Rodrigo Garagarza, who created Flower Jack exclusively for the project — a 2.5-meter diameter steel sculpture inspired by the shape of the “matatena” from children’s games, a recurring motif in his work. Garagarza reinterprets this form with his signature mastery of volume, balance, and the interplay between the organic and the geometric, evoking collective memory through a contemporary aesthetic.

Garagarza’s work seamlessly blends art and architecture, reflecting a deep understanding of geometry and form. His large-scale sculptures can be found in public spaces and private collections across Mexico, the United States, and Europe.
