Modos de mirar
“Modos de mirar” is a group exhibition curated by Jesús Barrera, bringing together five artists whose practices revolve around light as a tool for image-making and as a way of interpreting reality.
The exhibition is grounded in a simple premise: we do not all see the same. Far from being a neutral element, light becomes the starting point from which each artist constructs a distinct perspective. From this standpoint, the exhibition proposes a journey through different ways of perceiving, translating, and representing the world.
The participating artists —Alejandro Botubol, Norberto Gil, Ana H del Amo, José Carlos Naranjo, and Cachito Vallés— approach this question through diverse languages, ranging from painting to installation. Through their works, they explore light not only as a physical phenomenon, but also as memory, experience, and subjective construction.
The exhibition unfolds as an open structure, where the viewer is invited to pause, move, and observe from different angles. From the fragmentation of colour to the reconstruction of landscape or the creation of immersive environments, each proposal activates a distinct way of seeing.
Rather than offering a closed reading, Modos de mirar invites viewers to question their own perception and to become aware of how we construct what we see.
